Employment in Britain.


1. During the recruitment and selection process organisation seeks to eliminate any type of unwanted bias issues as employees are being chosen on their capability to perform the task they are recruited for. Employee is chosen on the aspect that he would be flexible in work practices, dedicated and committed towards the issued task, avoiding any unlawful practices and would always work in groups or teams during essential projects.

2. One of the biggest employment issue in Britain is that of International Recruitment Trends which is increasing day by day due to globalisation of market place and due to shortage of skilled work force and advancement in technology, other issues gripping employment is discrimination at workplace, taking time off work due to family problems like raising family, sickness or taking break off due to graduating from college. Their are also issues like minimum wages paid towards employees, leaving the job in between without any further notice or just resigning because one does not like the harassment done by boss or if theirs no satisfactory pay.

3. Employer sought after the following skills to be present in an employee like Communication skills, Analytical/ Research skills, Computer literacy, Flexibility and Adaptability, Leadership skills, Multicultural Awareness, Planning, Problem solving techniques and last but not the least Teamwork. More over employer also seek for personal skills in an employee such as Integrity, Hard working, reliability and loyalty, Positive attitude, Self confidence towards working without any guidance or support and finally willingness to learn.

4. Before accepting the job employee must read the papers thoroughly before signing any contracts. Also one should not fall prey to the jobs that promise easy lifestyle and high payments. Employee should always consider for Benefits like yearly holidays, sick leaves, casual leaves, paid leaves, and travelling benefit. Insurance benefits like medical cover of whole family, life insurance and long term disability and short term disability plans. Financial benefits like Thrift plan, Profit Plan and Company pension plan. Further educational benefits like Reimbursement of tuition fees, additional educational and training programs conducted by company and applying for the membership and subscription of professional journals used by the company. Moreover company should also provide extra benefits services like, relocation benefits, equipments from company(mobile phone, laptop, company car) with addition to Employee assistance program (program which deals with confidential concerns like family issues, emotions, marriage life, alcohol/drug use, problems regarding job and legal concerns. Eventhough all of this benefits may not be given by the company but company tries to satisfy as much as possible to keep the employee engaged and devoted towards his work and duties at work place.
