
- St. David was a patron saint in Wales and he is also known as Dewi Saint in Welsh Language. He lived in 6th Century, and was one of the early saints who spread the word of christianity in Westrn Britain. He acquried a position of Archbishop during his lifetime.
- People celebrate this day because on this day St David died in around 589AD. It is a Welsh festival and everybody is invited to join, where people come together in creative and dignified celebration of culture in wales.
- It has been seen that most of the people wear the both of the national symbols i.e. daffodils and leek, where daffodils are worn by women and leek are worn by men on there lapel. These flowers blooms in month of march also another significant fact is that both have almost same names in Welsh language i.e. leek (Cenin) and for daffodils (Cenin Bedr) which means Peter's Leek. One can also eat a leek and become proud to be a welshmen.
